Ignorance

20 lines

I haven’t revisited my mind

because who wants to know

who wants to be reminded of

the pea under the bed

like a checklist

I’m happy in blissful ignorance

the back pain

only exists when I’m bending backwards

when I carry more than I can

happy to forget

that my spine is ten thousand miles from my head

that I’ve cut off my fingers

picking up shards of time

that my eardrum has been glued to a speaker

instead of sea shells for far too long

that my skin has somehow shrunk

sultana under the driver’s seat

never feel the sun or the rain again

why can’t that be

the things I forget.
